Fire Safety, CPR, First Aid & Emergency Instructions
Fire Safety
- Know all exits and evacuation routes in the clinic.
- Use a fire extinguisher only if trained and safe to do so.
- Do not use elevators during a fire evacuation.
- Assist patients and visitors safely during evacuation.
- Once safe, report to the designated assembly point.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Check the scene for safety before approaching the patient.
- Call for help and activate emergency response.
- Check for responsiveness and breathing.
- Start chest compressions: 100–120 per minute, 2 inches deep for adults.
- Provide rescue breaths if trained: 2 breaths after 30 compressions.
- Continue until EMS arrives or patient shows signs of life.
Basic First Aid
- Clean and dress minor cuts or abrasions.
- Control bleeding using direct pressure and bandages.
- Immobilize suspected sprains or fractures.
- Monitor vital signs for any changes in patient condition.
- Always follow universal precautions and wear gloves.
How to Call 911
- Stay calm and speak clearly.
- Provide your location (clinic address and room number).
- Describe the emergency briefly (e.g., unconscious patient, chest pain).
- Give patient’s age, gender, and condition.
- Follow the dispatcher’s instructions until help arrives.
- Do not hang up until told to do so by the operator.
